Neighborhood Tutoring with Third Story gives volunteers an opportunity to focus on the needs of one neighborhood child (K-6th). Each week you’ll work together with your student to help develop reading, math and writing skills. Tutors and students also have the option of participating in an additional half-hour club time that includes singing, a simple and practical Bible lesson, academic tips, announcements and a prayer. Tutors are paired together to transport students to/from their homes.
We meet at First Avenue Presbyterian Church (120 W. 1st Avenue). We are in session during the school year and take off Thanksgiving week, all major holidays and an extended Christmas break. We have substitutes available who can fill-in during times of illness or business/family travel commitments.
Tutors are offered comprehensive training and there is a local school teacher on-site.
We have two available sessions of Neighborhood Tutoring
Monday Afternoon: 4:15-6:15 or
Monday Evening: 5:15-7:15
